Following the establishment of the Tsau//Khaeb National Park (TKNP or Sperrgebiet), a need existed for a radio system to facilitate effective park management and related conservation activities.  A contract was awarded in July 2020 for the supply and installation of the radio equipment, and the project is expected to be commissioned by the end of May 2021.

Lithon Project Consultants was appointed for the design, Procurement, Project management and Administration of the project.

Description of actual services

Radio Network Components: 

The radio network comprises the following main system components: 

  1. Digital VHF repeaters at the following sites (shown as yellow pins in Fig. below): 
  • Lüderitz 
  • Parks
  • Zebrasfontein 
  • Swartkop 
  • Aus 
  • Grünau 
  • Van der Sterberg (in the Richtersveld National, Park South-Africa)
