Master Planning of the Tsumeb Water Distribution System

The Tsumeb Municipality appointed Lithon to compile a water hydraulic computer model and to produce a water master plan report for Tsumeb.  This project provides general information on the attributes and functioning of the water distribution system serving Tsumeb and addresses the following specific issues.

Services provided within the assignment:

• Evaluation of existing system performance;
• Recommendations for alleviating deficiencies;
• The development of a Masterplan to ensure any upgrades for future expansion will not negatively affect the system.

The project entails the collection of data, verification of system data, situation assessment, establishment of a computer model using the WADISO modelling software for the water network, the linking of land use and water demand information to the model, analysis, evaluation and master planning to recommend implementation measures required to accommodate the expected future design demands. The recommendations are prioritised and resulting capital expenditure implications calculated.
