Executive Chairman (Nam), Director (SA)
Adriaan Grobler is the founder and a shareholder in the company. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Lithon Project Consultants. He is a professional civil engineer registered with the Engineering Council of Namibia (PE94010). He obtained his BEng (Civil) degree in 1991 from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and is a member of the South African Institute for Civil Engineers and of the Engineering Professions Association in Namibia.
Adriaan has more than 23 years of extensive experience and expertise in project management, planning, design, procurement and construction supervision of civil engineering and building projects in Namibia, South Africa and Angola. His areas of expertise are water treatment plants, sewerage treatment facilities, solid waste facilities, earth dams, township services, wet services for buildings, hydraulic designs, hydrology, systems analyses, storm water designs, sewer pump stations, roads, fish farming, rural water supply schemes, housing developments, shopping centres, industrial parks and hospitals.
Amb Tonata Itenge-Emvula
Non-Executive Director (Nam)
Amb Tonata Itenge-Emvula joined Lithon Project Consultants in May 2010 as a shareholder and non-executive director. She holds a master’s degree in history, an MBA and a diploma in international relations. She was the first Namibian female ambassador to be appointed in 1991 and was accredited to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. She served as a director of Bank of Namibia, and was instrumental in reforming the 2004/5 Presidential Economic Advisory Council before she was appointed in her current position as special advisor to the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare. Tonata also serves as director of various investment companies in the tourism and mining sector.
She is passionate about economic empowerment for women and the welfare of children. She serves on the Council of the Polytechnic of Namibia, is a trustee of the Christina Swart-Opperman Children’s Trust, apatron of Oonte OVC Trust, a trustee of Mkwamhalanga Tukondjeni Community Trust and a founder member of Creative Enterprise Solutions.
Managing Director (Nam)
Frikkie Holtzhausen joined Lithon Project Consultants on 1 November 2008 as a shareholder and director of the civil and development services department. He headed the Swakopmund office which was opened in 2008 until March 2013. He is an incorporated engineer (Civil) registered with the Engineering Council of Namibia (IE90002). In 2003, he also obtained an MBA with distinction, specialising in general and strategic management from the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands.
Frikkie has more than 38 years of municipal, engineering and management experience and is especially knowledgeable regarding project management, planning, design, procurement and construction supervision of civil and municipal engineering projects in Namibia. His projects include sewerage treatment facilities, the construction of roads, sewer pump stations, housing development, water supply infrastructure, township services and township development.
Over the last number of years, he has also gained experience in the field of legislation and legal procedures as he has been exposed to high court matters in the High Court of Namibia. Frikkie is a registered adjudicator on the National Adjudicator list of Namibia.
Managing Director (SA), Executive Director (Nam)
Gert Maritz graduated in 2003 as a civil engineer from the University of Stellenbosch where he gained his B.Eng degree and has more than 11 years’ experience in the engineering industry. He managed the Lithon Ongwediva office from 2008-2010 before locating to Swakopmund where he managed the Swakopmund office until 2014. He is registered as a professional engineer (PE28004) with the Engineering Council of Namibia since 2008.
His field of expertise is roads and pavement engineering ranging from rural to urban roads for rehabilitation and construction of new roads. He completed his Masters in Engineering specialising in pavement engineering in 2015.
In addition to roads, he has further gained a wide range of experience during the past 10 years in civil design work, town services, water and sewer reticulation designs for buildings, hydraulic designs, hydrology, system analysis, storm water designs and on-site supervision of numerous civil and structural projects. He is also responsible for a number of projects in the northern, central and coastal regions as project engineer and manager.
Executive Director (Nam)
Barnabas Uugwanga is the business development director for Lithon. He initially joined Lithon in 2011 as the founding CEO of Lithon Mining Engineers (Pty) Ltd which is now incorporated in Lithon Project Consultants (Pty) Ltd as Lithon Mining Consultancy Department.
Barnabas is a well-rounded and experienced Mining Engineer and Executive. He in 2014 re-joined Lithon after secondment to one of the Mining and Exploration Projects as Chief Executive Officer – Project Operations. He brings a wealth of experience in project management, mine planning and design, and business process re-engineering. He started his mining career at Namdeb (Namibia De Beers) after obtaining a B.Sc (Eng) Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand. While at Namdeb, Barnabas held various roles including Project Manager and Mining Engineer responsible for the U60 Mining Operation in Mining Area 1.
In April 2008, Barnabas joined Navachab (AngloGold Ashanti) as a Mining Engineer responsible for short-term mine planning and scheduling, and was later appointed as a Project Manager for the dispatch system for Navachab of which he lead the scoping and initiation. Barnabas joined the Standard Bank Namibia Project office in April 2010 as Manager Process Lead, where he was responsible for the Process Re-engineering of the core banking replacement project.
